In line with our Human Values Program and philosophy, the college adheres to vegetarianism for both pupils and staff. All official college functions at which food is served are vegetarian. This includes the tuckshop.
Lunches are the responsibility of each family. Parents are encouraged to pack healthy vegetarian snacks and lunches and to avoid providing food or drink with a high sugar content. Students are not permitted to share food at school. In hot weather, drinking of water during class time is encouraged.
Some healthy lunchbox ideas include:
- Hommus or another vegetarian dip and crackers
- Sandwiches or wraps
- Pasta or rice salad
- Fresh fruit and vegetables
- Muesli bars
- Yoghurt (make sure to use an ice brick in your child’s lunchbox)
- Vegetarian patties or vegetarian sausages
The Sathya Sai College tuckshop is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. Orders must be received with money by Monday morning for Tuesday lunches and by Wednesday morning for Thursday lunches.
