The School Building Program
Expansion of Sathya Sai Primary School
Introduction
There are at present around 105 pupils at the school, and during the current year (2007) the number is likely to increase beyond that. We currently have just enough classrooms and demountables to accommodate these numbers. The local community is becoming increasingly aware of the nature and philosophy of the Sai School.
A key component of the Australian Sai Organisation's vision is the development of the Sathya Sai Primary School at Murwillumbah (NSW) into a model Primary School for values-based education, delivering excellence in academic performance and character development.
It is planned that the school will have a final enrolment of approximately 7 separate grades or approximately 150-165 pupils. However, the current growth alone means the school will require additional classrooms by the year 2008.
Current Development
Land adjacent to the school has been acquired. Some land has been cleared; further clearing will be necessary prior to construction.
An architect has been engaged to draw up plans:
The adjacent block of land was purchased this year, so there is sufficient land for this expansion. The necessary infrastructure will be constructed and ready for use as soon as possible.
Architects have been working closely with the School Board and building committee to design the new buildings and obtain development approvals through council.
The building program will be in two stages and is as follows:
Stage 1
- Four new classrooms, library, toilets,
- Ready for Occupation in January 2007
- Estimated Cost: $700,000
Stage 2
- Kindergarten plus Classes 1 and 2
- Ready for Occupation in 2008/2009
- (replacing portable classrooms)
- Staff room and Administration area
- Estimated Cost: $300,000

School Directors have a firm belief that our school at Murwillumbah can play a significant role in advancing the introduction of EHV into schools throughout Australia.
